BARLOWS SHED……. THE £800M RESTORATION

Access Engineerings’ biggest and most prestigious project to date is the supply of over one million pounds worth of high quality stainless steel assemblies used in the recent refurbishment of ‘St Pancras International’ Station.
Supplied through ‘Optima Contracting Group’ the 15 month project entailed Laser and Waterjet cutting of the key components, machining and turning of both the stainless and nylon parts, high quality TIG welding, and finally the 240 grit brushed polishing process were all carried out by our experienced engineers utilising our in-house equipment.
The 316 Stainless hand railing around the travelators and the restricted zone barriers that segregate the Eurostar are examples of the assemblies.

Some of the technical issues faced included the tight tolerances required of the tall RZ post assemblies. These were over 2.7Mts tall and weighed in excess of 125 kilos each, specified at +/- 2mm overall tolerance, the added complication of some needing to be welded off 90 degrees to compensate for sloping ground.

This project is a perfect example of the skill and capability of the team at Access Engineering and a testament to the high level of quality that it can achieve.
